Sponsor A Doll And Help Provide A Syrian Family With Daily Bread

Master Corporal Mark Isfeld’s mother Carol created the Izzy Doll so he would have something to give to the children he met while serving as a peacekeeper. When Mark was serving on peacekeeping missions he saw that the children of those countries had no toys. Personal possessions are often lost during wars. His Mother, Carol Isfeld knitted him a little woollen doll that he could give away to the children he met.
In 1994, Mark was killed while serving in Croatia by a land mine explosion. Mark’s comrades in 1 Combat Engineer Regiment asked Carol to continue making the dolls for them to give out. Before Carol passed away, she gave her blessing to Billy Willbond and his organization ICROSS to carry on promoting, creating and distributing the dolls.
HPIC began working with ICROSS more than a decade ago. Through this partnership, HPIC became a major recipient of the Izzy Dolls. A few years ago, Billy passed the torch to HPIC to continue the mission of bringing comfort and joy to the little children of the world. Billy had three conditions: that HPIC use the dolls to benefit children, that this work be done to honour the memory of Master Corporal Mark Isfeld, and that the dolls not be bought or sold.

LILY wants to continue this story by distributing 'Izzy' dolls to children in war torn Syria. We are asking you to sponsor the Izzy dolls and you will receive a sponsorship certificate. The dolls will then journey to Syria and the sponsorship money will be used to provide a Syrian family with fresh bread daily.

Once you sponsor your Izzy doll it will be packed away to be distributed to children in time for Children's Day April 23rd 20017. You will receive a photo of your Izziy doll and a certificate of sponsorship.

The acute suffering of civilian communities has been made immeasurably worse by a shortage of bread, Syrian’s staple food, caused in part by the deliberate bombing of bakeries. By sponsoring a doll you will be helping to ease the plight of the Syrian civilian population, who feel abandoned by the rest of the world by making sure that they at least get fresh bread daily.
The 5 pounds sponsorship money will provide a family with bread for a month and help to ensure the continued running of the bakery in Idlib, Syria.

Ramadan Food Parcels Appeal For Syria.

The Holy month of Ramadan (Ramazan in Turkey) is fast approaching. According to the Islamic calendar this year Ramadan will begin on 6th June and end on 7th July. This Ramadan, please remember the people of Syria: millions hungry, many thousands literally starving. With your donations, we’ll take food to the hungry and remind Syrians that we stand with them. We’ll be taking Ramadan food parcels into the Idlib province of Syria where there is a shortage of food. Each food parcel is planned to meet the daily calorific requirements to sustain a family of 6 for up to a month. Each parcel consists of: Dates, Figs, Flour, Rice, Sugar, Butter, Oil, Pasta, Bulgur wheat, Lentils, tinned fish, tinned tomato puree, Packet Soups, Tea and Seasonings, and when needed baby milk formula, all purchased locally here in Turkey.

Life has become increasingly harsh for those struggling to survive in Syria. Five years of conflict have destroyed the country’s economy and agricultural production. Recently I have listened, hopelessly, to the stories of parents who have no choice but to put their children to sleep at night with empty stomachs, babies screaming through the night because there is no money or access to milk.

With your help together we can make a difference!

Each parcel costs around 30 pounds (44 USD). If you could spare a lira (pound, dollar) or two that would be a great help. No donation is too small. We urge you to please donate what you can to our food parcel appeal and continue to keep the people of Syria in your thoughts and prayer.
Please use the donate buttons below.Your donations will go a long way to help keep them alive.

Help Ibrahim Go Back To School.

This is Ibrahim he is 11years old from Aleppo in Syria and now living with his family in Izmir. Since we heard his story a few days ago he has been on our mind a lot. He used to attend school but now has to work to help his family pay rent and survive. He works long hours in a tea house from 8am until 7pm serving tea, cleaning up and running errands. He earns just 200tl ( 47 gbp,68 usd) per month but the family's monthly rent is 320tl ( 75 gbp, 108 usd).
His story has touched a cord with my husband Mehmet as at the age of 9yrs we was sent away to Kuşadasi from the east of Turkey to earn money to help keep the family. He missed a lot of school and has always regretted it and made sure that all his 5 brothers and 2 sisters have gone to school. Education has the power to transform children’s futures. We're determined to ensure that Ibrahim gets an education and the chance to write his own future.

We have decided to help to make Ibrahim's life a little easier and go back to school by helping to pay the rent for the family. If you would like to help Ibrahim go back to school please click on the donate button below.

LILY Refugee Drop In Centre

We set up the Drop in centre because we became aware of the desperate needs of destitute refugees living on our streets, many of whom go hungry and survive predominantly on the kindness of friends. Also the need to help stop these desperate refugees from making the perilous trip across the sea.

LILY drop in centre will be a welcoming, warm and friendly space. To help refugees and people facing poverty/ destitution, homelessness or struggling to triumph over adversity. Our drop in will be a safe place to come for a rest, children can play with toys, there will be a hot drink and when we can a hot meal. we will provide nearly-new,new and hand made clothing, footwear, toiletries and sanitary items to individuals in need and we always have hand made blankets that we can hand out when needed, food parcels and a supermarket voucher. When funds allow we will add a shower and washing machine services also.
We will aim promote good health and offer free advice and support, as well as the opportunity to meet organisations that can help with all kinds of problems.

Our vision is a community in which all refugees are welcomed, valued and able to participate fully in society”
